About Me

I am a Design Engineer with six years of commercial delivery, specialising in the design and development of hardware products. Experience in DfMA, LCA, patenting, and PDM systems. I most recently led Pavegen’s product development team. I’ve designed and shipped products selling ~40,000 units per year, designed solar tiles to increase energy output 6-30x, and redesigned an electro-mechanical generator to reduce core mechanism costs by ~90%, proving output on a custom test rig.

Achievements

• Designed and patented lowest lying fire resistant support pedestal on the market for EnviroBuild, in response to changes in fire regulations for buildings in the UK, now selling tens of thousands of units per year

• Redesigned the Pavegen’s core generator mechanism, greatly reducing cost and size while maintaining energy output, validated through a custom test rig development

• Redesigned and simplified Pavegen’s substructure, introducing custom aluminium extrusions, injection moulded parts, and off-the-shelf components which reduced part costs and assembly time and enabling Pavegen’s largest ever installation in Riyadh

• Designed electromechanical integration of solar cells into the Pavegen tiles: IP-rated sealing, cable potting, and PCB housing validated through 1000-hour environmental chamber testing; increased power output 6-30x

• Showed my Pavegen work on BBC Click in Jan 2025

• Spoke at the Design Engineering Expo 2022 & 2023 for the IED, on panels discussing sustainable design

• Represented the IED in contributing to the IET’s Sustainable Product Design Guide
